Okay so I have never really talked about this because a small part of me is afraid to not accomplish anything that I’m about to mention, so this is a post that I can look back on and either feel happy about or not. I guess I’m willing to take the risk. Just to give you a little background on me, I’ve never really been a goal setter type of person. I am ashamed to mention this, but I’m being as honest as I can. Growing up I was always the student barely keeping my head above water when it came to grades, deadlines, reports, reading assignments etcetera. As an adult, now 30 years young, I see the importance in small little things like making lists and using planners. According to ecowellnessnews.net “Statistics show people who write down their goals have over an 80% higher success rate of achieving them”. This applies to everyday goals like, taking coats to the dry-cleaners, or going to the car wash.
Now we’re talking 20 years from now. There are a handful of things that I wish to accomplish by then and here they are for ya!
1. PLUGGED IN
I wish to be plugged into an important part of my church family as my main ministry. I want to serve in some way and I know that God takes pleasure in that. I don’t exactly know what area yet, but I want God to guide me and show me through his perfect timing where I belong in the church.
2. BE AN EXAMPLE
In 20 years my kids will be 31, 24 and 21! OH MY GOODNESS! Typing that right now just got me so emotional (sniff, sniff). I ultimately want my children to marry great people of God. I want them to follow in the path of God and seek partners that are immersed in the same. This is my desire for them. To be an example of the woman my son will marry one day, and for my husband to be the example of the man that he wants our girls to marry. What a huge responsibility, right? Whew, I’m sweating over here just thinking about how much I’ve messed up already. I’m glad the Lord gives me a new opportunity every morning to be an example to them.
3. GENERATE INCOME
At the moment my blog does NOT, I repeat, does NOT generate me any income and that’s something that I’m working towards changing! Some of you may hate me for it, but I’m just trynna make it happen for me, mkay? 🙂 I want to be able to generate some form of income to leave my part-time Job. I want to replace my part-time income (or more, of course) with my blog and be able to work from home and spend more time with my kids. I’ve visualized myself as that person and I feel very strongly that it’s for me.
4. WRITE A BOOK, OR TWO
The idea has been there for a while. My husband and I have discussed this multiple times, but I don’t think we’ve ever been public about it. I have not really looked into it, but I know that it’s something that’s been in our hearts and we will pray about it to see if this is where God leads us. We have lived through some hard times that we believe would be of counsel to men and women out there and we want to share it with them. All through a Christian perspective and giving all the glory to God.
5. BUY REAL ESTATE
This is kind of a controversial one in our home, but we have mixed emotions, ideas, stances on this subject (my husband and I). I know that it’s very expensive and will not happen anytime soon, but if I think about 20 years down the road, I see it happening. I can only do my part in working hard and being consistent with my blogging, YouTube-ing and focusing on the day by day things that I can do to help me get to this BIG goal. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
Those are the top 5 and although it may seem like they’re minimal (except for #5 lol) they are important for me. What about you? Share with me your top 5 in the comments below and let’s start a conversation. Once again, thanks for stopping by!
